International AI & Africa Conference: Legal, Political & Economic Perspectives

Porto-Novo, Benin‍ – The Higher Regional School of⁣ Magistracy (ERSUMA) of the Organization⁤ for the Harmonization of ‍business Law in Africa (OHADA), in collaboration with⁤ the Artificial intelligence ⁢and african Law Forum, will⁣ host an international conference ⁢examining the rapidly evolving⁤ landscape of artificial intelligence ⁣(AI) in Africa. The event, scheduled for October​ 22 and 23, ⁣2025, ⁢will be conducted entirely via videoconference and‍ aims to foster a multidisciplinary dialog between lawyers, political scientists, economists, and sociologists.

The conference seeks to analyze‌ the current ⁣state of AI growth on the continent, its associated challenges, ⁢and ⁣future prospects. organizers state the event is designed as an open forum for discussion, welcoming academics, researchers, computer scientists,‍ legal professionals (including magistrates, notaries, ‌and bailiffs),⁤ economic operators, policymakers, private sector representatives, civil society members, and students.

Presentations will primarily⁢ be in French,‍ with simultaneous translation available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese -⁢ the official languages of⁢ OHADA.⁢
