Indonesia to Deliver 10,000 Tons of Rice Aid to Palestine Amidst Ongoing Crisis

Jakarta – The Indonesian government is preparing to send 10,000 tons of rice to Palestine as urgent humanitarian assistance, responding to the escalating food and humanitarian crisis caused by the Israeli blockade and continued aggression. Foreign Minister Sugiono announced the impending aid delivery during a pro-Palestine rally at the National Monument (Monas) on Sunday.

This significant aid package underscores Indonesia’s firm commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, a commitment Minister Sugiono described as constitutionally mandated and a core national priority. To date, Indonesia has already provided over 4,400 tons of essential supplies and disbursed hundreds of billions of rupiah in humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The initiative directly reflects President Prabowo Subianto’s pledge to prioritize the Palestinian cause from the outset of his management.President Subianto views Palestinian independence as integral to Indonesia’s own historical struggle against colonialism and has consistently advocated for Palestine on international platforms, including ASEAN and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

“President Prabowo has reaffirmed indonesia’s stance (on Palestine) at ASEAN, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and other multilateral forums,” stated Sugiono. “My duty as a foreign minister is to translate this stance into real actions.”

The decision to provide the rice aid was initially announced in July by Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, following direct instructions from President Subianto. The Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta will determine the logistics of the delivery, and Indonesia is prepared to dispatch the aid instantly.

Beyond immediate food relief,Indonesia is also exploring long-term solutions to bolster Palestinian food security. Plans are underway to collaboratively manage up to 20,000 hectares of farmland in South Sumatra and Kalimantan, providing Palestine with a enduring source of sustenance.
