Man Accused of Brutal Domestic Abuse and Public Assault

Partner and Ticket Inspector Attacked on Public Transit

Prosecutors in Szentendre have brought charges against a man for a violent relationship and a subsequent assault on a ticket inspector and his former partner aboard a commuter train (HÉV). The alleged incidents detail a pattern of abuse and a public outburst.

History of Violence Detailed

The indictment outlines a two-year relationship during which the accused repeatedly subjected his partner to physical violence. Allegations include striking her with his fists, slamming her head against the ground, and kicking her throat. These actions have led to charges of violence, aggravated assault, and interfering with a public official.

Public Confrontation on the HÉV

In April 2025, the couple was reportedly drinking together in Békásmegyer. The woman left the location and later boarded the same HÉV train. Upon seeing her, the accused became aggressive, shouting at her. When a ticket inspector intervened due to the disruption, the accused attacked both the inspector and his former partner.

The altercation escalated when the train stopped. As the woman disembarked, the accused followed, issuing threats. He then reportedly shook her violently and struck her in the face, breaking her nose.

Domestic violence remains a significant issue globally. In 2022, over 40% of women in Hungary experienced physical or sexual violence from a partner at some point in their lives, according to a report by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH).
