In-N-Out President Teases Expansion Into Four New States
In-N-Out Burger president and owner Lynsi Snyder has identified Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and New Mexico as target regions for the Southern California-based fast-food chain’s ongoing geographic growth, nypost.com reported. Speaking in an interview with actor Terry Crews to commemorate the company’s 78th anniversary, Snyder mapped out potential expansion corridors following the brand’s recent entry into Tennessee.
The privately held corporation currently operates 445 restaurants across 10 states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Washington. Snyder noted that while customer demand remains high in numerous unserved markets, the organization maintains a deliberate, controlled pace of development rather than rushing nationwide penetration. Denying claims that the company is growing rapidly, Snyder noted, We have a very steady growth rate, and it’s not really going up. In fact, sometimes we don’t hit that.
She also pointed out that many states request the chain to expand there, though she emphasized, Though I think there’s a lot of states that really want us there, it’s not really in the works and not planned,
adding, I feel like there’s a special piece knowing that In-N-Out isn’t everywhere.

Albuquerque Location Opens by 2027
Expansion plans include an upcoming location in Albuquerque, New Mexico, scheduled to open by 2027 following an initial announcement made in November 2023. Snyder pointed to the map regarding future possibilities in the South. “If you look on the map, you’ve got Texas, there’s Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma. There’s some states there that are possibilities,” she stated during the interview.
The company’s historical expansion pattern shows measured decades between major out-of-state milestones. Founded by Harry and Esther Snyder in Baldwin Park, California, on October 22, 1948, the chain did not open a location outside of California until November 1992 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Subsequent state entries followed in Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado, Idaho, Washington, and Tennessee.

Commitment to Core Operations and California Roots
Despite eastward momentum, leadership rejected notions of abandoning the company’s home state. Snyder dismissed a full exit from California as an unviable business choice, emphasizing that future store openings remain slotted for multiple California cities. “This is where we started, where we are and where we will always be,” Snyder told nypost.com.
Snyder reaffirmed earlier statements that the enterprise will not introduce mobile ordering, citing a corporate priority to preserve direct customer service interaction, personal greetings, and product freshness.
