Catalan WWII Drama “I Regret Nothing” Lands US Distribution Deal
ESPIRA-DE-L’AGLY, FRANCE – A historical drama crafted entirely by a Catalan team, “I Regret Nothing,” is set to reach a global audience after securing a distribution agreement with American streaming platforms. The 40-minute film, which tells the story of a Savoyard resistance fighter in 1944, has captivated audiences and industry professionals alike, culminating in a deal with 7Palms, a company present on 70 international platforms.
The filmS success marks a notable achievement for the self-reliant Catalan filmmaking collective behind it - director Aurélien Fossé-Kitsakis, distributor David Marcel Bravo, and project initiator Maxime Bravo. Their dedication to historical accuracy, underscored by collaboration with historical reconstruction associations, resonated at festivals, including a selection for the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, France’s second-largest film event after Cannes. The story centers on a sub-prefect’s final act of defiance, reflected in his last writen words: ”I regret nothing.”
“Je ne regrette rien” was filmed in 2023, primarily in Espira-de-l’Agly, with a portion near Toulouse. Produced by Mémoire de Préfecture and Figure Pictures, the film will be available on UVOtv (USA), Reveel (USA), and Fimzee (Slovakia) starting in March 2025. While immediate profitability isn’t expected - the team anticipates a return on investment in approximately a year and a half – the distribution deal represents a major step forward for the Catalan filmmakers and a testament to the universal appeal of their story.
David Marcel Bravo emphasized the meaning of the recognition, stating the Clermont-Ferrand selection was a moment of profound impact for the team. Aurélien Fossé-Kitsakis highlighted the reach of 7Palms, noting its presence on 70 international platforms.
