[인포스탁데일리=신민재 기자] Hyundai’s ‘Pony Coupe’ has been restored after 49 years. Chung Eui-sun, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, revived the ‘Pony Coupe’ in the sense of inheriting the legacy of the previous chairman and moving forward into the future based on it.

Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the ‘Pony Coupe’ in Lake Como, Italy on the 18th (local time). The Pony Coupe was unveiled to the world in 1974 when Hyundai Motor Company exhibited it at the Turin Motor Show in Italy during the time of Chairman Chung Ju-young.

Pony Coupe, a coupe-type model of Pony, a purely domestic car, has not reached mass production unlike Pony. The Pony Coupe was originally made for export, but it was a model that failed in mass production due to the oil crisis.

After 49 years, Chairman Chung Eui-sun set out to restore the Pony Coupe.

What is eye-catching is that Giorgetto Giugiaro, who designed the pony, and his son Fabrizio Giugiaro participated in the restoration work. The Pony Coupe also has a meaning of inheriting the past heritage in that the first designer participated again.

Chairman Chung Eui-sun said, “(Hyundai Motor) is making something new, but we have to organize the past and create the future at the same time.” The point of hard work together in the past, the purpose of bringing back all those things.”

In addition, Hyundai Motor Company also unveiled the ‘N Vision 74’, a high-performance hydrogen hybrid rolling lab (moving laboratory) designed inspired by the Pony Coupe.
