Hiawatha Robbery: Man Arrested, Woman Charged in Gas Station Crime

Man Arrested in Connection to 2024 Hiawatha Gas Station Robbery

HIAWATHA, Iowa – A ‌man has been arrested and charged in connection ⁢with a robbery that occurred at a Hiawatha gas station‍ in June 2024, according to authorities.

Details of the Robbery

The incident took place at a Speedy Mart located on Robins road⁢ in Hiawatha. The store employee reported that two⁢ individuals, both wearing face masks and ⁣plastic bags over their hands, entered the store and brandished a firearm.

the robbers allegedly demanded the employee open the cash register and subsequently stole approximately $1,582.

Following the robbery, the employee reported to police⁤ that the two suspects fled on foot‌ towards the 230 block of‌ Pirie Drive, where they entered an SUV and departed the ⁢scene.

investigation and Arrest

Emily Edgeton,the‍ driver of the SUV,was ⁢previously charged for her ⁢involvement⁤ in the crime. In a recent interview with⁢ police,conducted a year after the​ robbery,Edgeton ⁤identified Kristopher‍ Gardner‍ as one of the individuals she transported to and from⁢ the‌ Quick Mart on the night of the incident.

Based on this information,Kristopher Gardner was arrested on​ Friday ⁤and ⁣is now facing charges of first-degree robbery,conspiracy ‍to commit a forcible felony,and going armed ⁤with ⁢intent.
