Man Arrested in Connection to 2024 Hiawatha Gas Station Robbery

HIAWATHA, Iowa – A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery that occurred at a Hiawatha gas station in June 2024, according to authorities.

Details of the Robbery
The incident took place at a Speedy Mart located on Robins road in Hiawatha. The store employee reported that two individuals, both wearing face masks and plastic bags over their hands, entered the store and brandished a firearm.
the robbers allegedly demanded the employee open the cash register and subsequently stole approximately $1,582.
Following the robbery, the employee reported to police that the two suspects fled on foot towards the 230 block of Pirie Drive, where they entered an SUV and departed the scene.

Emily Edgeton,the driver of the SUV,was previously charged for her involvement in the crime. In a recent interview with police,conducted a year after the robbery,Edgeton identified Kristopher Gardner as one of the individuals she transported to and from the Quick Mart on the night of the incident.
Based on this information,Kristopher Gardner was arrested on Friday and is now facing charges of first-degree robbery,conspiracy to commit a forcible felony,and going armed with intent.
