Seville Blood Drive Launched as Supplies Dwindle
Seville, Spain – A critical blood shortage has prompted teh provincial health board to issue an urgent call for donations throughout the first week of September. Residents are urged to contribute to replenish dwindling supplies vital for ongoing medical care and emergency services.
The appeal comes amid typical late-summer declines in donor numbers, placing increased strain on the regionS healthcare system. Maintaining adequate blood reserves is essential for scheduled surgeries, trauma response, and treatment of chronic illnesses. The health board anticipates a significant need for all blood types and encourages widespread participation to avert potential disruptions in patient care. Donations will be accepted at multiple locations across the province, offering adaptability for potential donors.
From Monday to Friday, fixed donation points will operate at two Seville hospitals. The Virgen macarena hospital will accept donations from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., while the center on Manuel Siurot Avenue will be open from 8:00 a.m.to 9:00 p.m.The Manuel Siurot Avenue location will also extend its hours on Saturday, accepting donations from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Additional donation opportunities will be available on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the House of Culture of the Palacios, the Brotherhood of Forgiveness of Alcalá de Guadaíra, and the Bormujos Civil Protection units.
