Kamala Harris Details How Trump Used Ivanka in Attempt to Charm Her
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In excerpts from her forthcoming memoir, Vice President Kamala Harris reveals a previously undisclosed attempt by Donald Trump to cultivate a personal relationship with her, utilizing his daughter, Ivanka, as an intermediary. The account, reported by The Daily Beast, details a series of interactions Harris found disingenuous and ultimately aimed at undermining her political standing.
Harris writes that Trump, during a period of heightened political tension, repeatedly asked Ivanka to extend invitations to her for social events and private conversations. According to Harris, Ivanka conveyed messages from her father suggesting a shared understanding as women navigating a male-dominated political landscape. Harris perceived these overtures as a calculated effort to disarm her and potentially sway her public criticism of the then-President.
“It was clear he wanted to get inside my head, to find a way to neutralize me,” Harris writes in the memoir. “He thought he could use Ivanka as a bridge, appealing to some imagined sisterhood. It was… transparent.”
The revelation comes amid escalating tensions between Harris and the Trump administration, highlighted by recent actions including the Federal Communications Commission’s threat against ABC over Jimmy kimmel’s commentary on charlie Kirk, leading to the indefinite suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Trump’s decision to strip Harris of her Secret Service protection ahead of her book tour. These actions have drawn condemnation from Harris and other Democrats, who accuse Trump of abusing his power to silence dissent.
In the memoir, Harris also offers critical assessments of the Biden administration, describing President Biden’s decision to seek reelection as “recklessness” and revealing her initial preference for Pete Buttigieg as her running mate, a choice she ultimately abandoned fearing voter resistance to a Black woman and a gay man on the same ticket.
