Forget “twin sets” – one couple is taking coordinated dressing too a whole new level, and the internet is obsessed. Hayden Bowers, a 30-year-old vintage reseller, and her partner, Scott Locke, 34, have captured hearts (and double-taps) on tiktok with their daily matching outfits. But the story behind their playful tradition is surprisingly rooted in a past relationship where Bowers felt unseen.
Bowers, whose style evokes iconic films like 10 Things I Hate About You, Coyote Ugly, and Almost Famous, first began documenting their looks this spring on TikTok (@hayn3y). The premise is simple: Bowers gets ready first, then Locke meticulously crafts an outfit to “match the vibe.” The result? A delightful, frequently enough hilarious, and always stylish display of affection.
“I was just doing my solo ’fit videos,” Bowers tells PEOPLE, “and then Scott would be off in the corner dressed like me. one day I was like, ‘Okay, I’m just gonna surprise him [and have him] hop in with the video.’ ”
The series quickly gained traction, with viewers praising the couple’s creativity and playful dynamic. But Bowers reveals the tradition began as a personal affirmation. She recalls a previous relationship where her ex-partner was “embarrassed to go out with me.”
“It’s funny because people think our relationship is ‘couple goals,’ but it really started from a place of wanting to be with someone who celebrates who I am, not hides me,” Bowers explains. “Scott genuinely loves my style and wants to participate in it.It’s incredibly validating.”
