Put the walker aside, put your hands on the backrest of the kitchen chair – and off you go. Günther Tlotzek bends his knees and rises elastically. “The squats are part of my gymnastics program, which I do several times a day. It still works and it’s good for me. It keeps me fit, even if, after my stroke, my running is no longer optimal due to my dizzy spells,” says the 99-year-old. He will soon have to answer differently when asked how old he is: the man from Kaldenkirchen will be celebrating his hundredth birthday on Thursday, February 9th. And because he wants to do it on a large scale, it’s important to him to be in good shape.
