Phoenix Suns sale nearing completion

The sale of NBA franchise Phoenix Suns and WNBA team Phoenix Mercury for a record $4 billion is nearing completion. (DATA: NBA results and schedule)

According to a league announcement late Monday evening (local time), the other team owners approved the takeover by an ownership group led by US billionaire Mat Ishbia.

New majority owner Ishbia is taking over the Arizona franchise from controversial owner Robert Sarver.

He announced the sale after being banned for a year and fined $10 million for racism and misogyny. (NEWS: All current information about the NBA)

Loud on Monday ESPN Jason Rowley may also have resigned as President and CEO of the Suns as a result of the allegations.
