Hong​ Kong – ⁤In⁤ a first ⁢for the‌ nation, ‌Guangdong, Hong ⁢Kong, and Macao are joining forces to co-host the 15th National Games, the 12th National Games for the Disabled, and the 9th‌ special ‍Olympics this November ​and ⁤December. ‍The event⁢ is ​poised to showcase ⁣Hong Kong’s pivotal ⁢role within the Greater Bay Area and solidify its position as a‍ leading destination for sports and cultural tourism.

The collaborative effort underscores China’s capacity ⁢to successfully​ manage large-scale international sporting events and fosters increased exchange and integration across ​the Greater Bay Area. To accommodate the anticipated influx of athletes,technical officials,and ‍delegation members,eight hotels have been officially designated for the national Games,with an additional four serving as official hotels for the Paralympic Games and Special Olympics. These accommodations were ‌selected through ‍a competitive⁢ public bidding ⁤process, prioritizing hotel category, capacity, facilities, management, experience, sustainability certifications, and proximity to competition ‌venues.

The NGCO is working closely with the Hong‌ Kong⁤ Tourism Advancement Council to ‍maximize‍ publicity for the Games through a multi-channel​ approach. This includes dedicated sections on the HKTDC website, robust social media ⁤campaigns, integration into consumer and trade activities, and prominent displays at visitor centers. The Games’ mascots are already appearing in popular ⁢festivals, such as the ​recent Spring festival float parades.

Industry Leaders ⁤hail event as a Catalyst for Growth

Alex Wu, Chairman of the Hong Kong Hotel⁢ Industry⁣ Association, lauded the Games as a “milestone in regional cooperation” and a powerful presentation of Hong Kong’s event hosting capabilities. ⁤

“this is an‍ excellent chance ⁣for‌ the ⁢hospitality industry to demonstrate our professionalism, inclusiveness and support the preparations for large international gatherings,” ⁤Wu said. He highlighted the industry’s commitment to bilingual service and the city’s cutting-edge⁢ infrastructure ​- including ‍the newly ‍completed⁢ Kai ​Tak Sports Park and West Kowloon Cultural District -‍ as key assets.The National Games also align‌ with Hong Kong’s broader “Tourism Ovaliability” strategy, with officials leveraging global media ‌platforms​ to build excitement ahead of the 2026 Lions Club‍ Annual Conference, expected to draw over 10,000 international delegates.
