‘GTA VI’ Delayed Again, Now Targeting November 2026 Release
Rockstar Games announced today a further delay for its highly anticipated title, Grand Theft Auto VI, pushing the launch window back to November 19, 2026 – six months after its previously scheduled release date of May 26, 2026. This marks the second postponement for the game, resulting in a total delay of one year from the initial target of fall 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
The studio expressed regret over the additional wait, acknowledging it “has been a long time coming,” but stated the extra months will be crucial to delivering a game that meets player expectations for quality. Rockstar shared that the additional progress time will be dedicated to refining the expansive open world of Leonida and the reimagined, “modern” vice City. The announcement arrives as the gaming world keenly anticipates the next installment in the blockbuster Grand Theft Auto franchise.
The delay has prompted a resurgence of comments from Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar Games’ parent company), who stated in May, “Historically, when we set a precise date, we tend to be very good at respecting it.”
players currently have access to two released trailers offering glimpses of the game’s setting and protagonists,Jason and Lucía,a couple of small-time criminals. The initial trailer debuted in December 2023, while the second, released in May, generated such high traffic that it temporarily crashed YouTube’s view counter, amassing over 137 million views to date.
Rockstar concluded its announcement by thanking fans for their “patience and support.”
