Greater Noida Dowry Murder: Woman Set Ablaze, Husband Demanded ₹36L

Woman Dies ​After Alleged Dowry-related ​Arson in Greater Noida

Greater‌ noida, India​ – A woman died Thursday ​from severe burn injuries after allegedly being⁣ assaulted adn set ablaze⁣ by her husband⁣ and in-laws in Greater Noida’s Sirsa village, police confirmed. The victim has been ​identified as Nikki.

Nikki was ⁢married to Vipin in 2016, and according to reports, the abuse began approximately​ six months ago stemming from dowry demands. A disturbing video circulating on social media appears to show the assault ⁤and the moment nikki was set on fire.

Authorities say Nikki was initially taken⁢ to ⁣Fortis Hospital by neighbors before being transferred to​ Safdarjung ⁢Hospital⁣ in Delhi.⁣ She succumbed to her‌ injuries while en route.

Police have registered a case against four family members⁤ – Vipin,his mother-in-law,father-in-law,and​ brother-in-law⁣ – following a ​complaint filed‍ by Nikki’s sister.Vipin has been ⁤arrested, and police teams‌ are working to apprehend the remaining suspects.

According⁤ to reports, the alleged attack occurred in front of Nikki’s⁢ minor son, who stated⁣ his mother was slapped before being ignited with a ⁣lighter. Several sources ​claim ⁤the incident was triggered by the family’s failure to⁢ provide a dowry of ₹36 lakh. Nikki’s sister,also married into ​the same family,alleges Nikki was burned due to the outstanding dowry amount.”On August 21, ‌a memo was received at Kasana police station from Fortis Hospital that a woman has been admitted with⁣ burn ‌injuries and has been referred to Safdarjung,” said Additional ​DCP Sudhir Kumar. “The police took immediate ​cognisance and reached Safdarjung⁣ Hospital. The woman had died ⁤on the way.”

Kumar confirmed a case has‌ been filed at Kasana police station and that investigations are ongoing.
