Google Expands AI-Powered Search Mode with Multimodal ​Support & Web Result⁤ Integration

MOUNTAIN⁢ VIEW, CA – Google is ‌rolling out an expanded ⁢”AI Mode” ⁤for its web search, now supporting multiple data formats including‍ text, ⁣audio, and images,⁢ and ‍adding a⁢ layer of fact-checking through integrated web search results.the ⁢update, initially announced by INTERNET Watch,⁢ aims too provide more complete ⁢and reliable answers to complex user queries.

The AI Mode leverages Google’s “Quality and Ranking System” to generate responses, but will‌ now display traditional web search‍ results when⁢ the AI detects potentially unreliable facts. This approach acknowledges⁣ the early stage of AI progress and prioritizes factual accuracy. The expansion includes ​support for Japanese, Indonesian, Korean, Hindi, and Portuguese (Brazil), in‌ addition to previously supported languages.

A key feature highlighted ​by INTERNET Watch is⁢ the multimodal capability. Users can, ‍for example, upload a photo of a foreign language menu and ask the AI to identify vegetarian options, receiving both translations and dietary recommendations.Google ‌acknowledges the‌ technology isn’t ​”always perfect” but ⁢is committed to “continuous enhancement.”
