Denver,CO – August 9,2025 – Google Fiber is expanding its gigabit internet service to additional Colorado communities, aiming to bridge the digital divide and boost economic opportunities. The expansion, announced today, will initially focus on areas within Adams, Arapahoe, and Boulder counties, with plans for further rollout based on community demand and infrastructure feasibility.

This expansion builds upon Google Fiber’s existing presence in select Colorado cities, including Westminster and Aurora, where the high-speed internet service has been available since 2023. The company cites increasing demand for reliable, high-bandwidth internet, particularly for remote work, education, and telehealth, as the driving force behind the investment. The initial phase of the expansion is expected to reach approximately 50,000 additional households by the end of 2026.

Google Fiber’s gigabit service offers symmetrical upload and download speeds, meaning users can upload and download data at the same rate – a notable advantage over many conventional internet providers. Pricing for the service starts at $50 per month for 1 Gig, with options for faster speeds and bundled services available. The company is also offering a program to provide discounted internet access to eligible low-income households, partnering with local organizations like the Denver Housing Authority to ensure accessibility.

The expansion is expected to create approximately 150 construction and installation jobs in the Denver metro area. Google Fiber is working closely with local municipalities to minimize disruption during the infrastructure build-out, utilizing microtrenching techniques to reduce excavation and restore surfaces quickly. The company has also committed to investing in digital literacy training programs in the communities it serves, aiming to equip residents with the skills needed to take full advantage of the high-speed internet access.
