google One Expansion Could Bundle Home Premium, Redesigned Google Home App on the Horizon
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Google is poised to expand the benefits of its Google One subscription service to potentially include Google Home Premium, according to code discovered within recent Android app updates. Simultaneously, a significant redesign of the Google Home app is under growth, centered around a new “Ask Home” feature.
currently,Google Home Premium offers features similar to Nest Aware, including video recording upon activity detection and the ability to recognize familiar faces via compatible cameras. The service also promises AI-powered event descriptions, notifications, and daily summaries, alongside E911 emergency calling capabilities. An ”Advanced” tier, likely mirroring Nest Aware plus, is also in the works, offering 60-day event history and 10 days of continuous 24/7 recording.
Notably, strings of code indicate Google intends to integrate Home Premium directly into Google one subscriptions. This model is already live in the United Kingdom since March 2024, and its potential global rollout remains to be seen, likely tied to Google One AI Pro and higher subscription levels.
The upcoming app redesign will feature “Ask Home,” allowing users to automate tasks or search video and home history using natural language. Code references suggest users will be able to “Just describe what you wont to automate, or ask to search your video and home history.”
