Google Details Gemini for Home Rollout: Early Access Begins October 28th
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Google today addressed key questions surrounding the launch of Gemini for Home, its forthcoming voice assistant powered by the Gemini AI model. Early access for the voice assistant on speakers and smart displays begins October 28th for Google Home Premium subscribers in the US.
The company initially launched Gemini for Home in New Zealand and Ireland, with plans for further expansion. Starting next week, sign-ups for early access will open in: Japan, Switzerland, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, norway, and Sweden. Google intends to expand availability to more countries in early 2026.
Gemini for Home will also be compatible with a wide range of cameras and doorbells, including all generations of Nest cameras and doorbells since 2015, as well as the new Walmart onn camera and doorbell. Users with older-generation Nest cameras will need to migrate to the Google Home app and sign up for early access to utilize the new features.
Google is also “working with third-party speaker companies to bring Gemini for Home to more devices.”
For existing subscribers, those with both a Google AI Pro subscription and a Google Home Premium Standard (formerly Nest Aware) subscription will need to activate their Google AI Pro benefit to access the features. Customers with Nest Aware through ADT will continue to receive the existing features included with their ADT subscription and should contact ADT customer service for specific questions.
