Gemini Replaces Google Assistant, Launches Exclusively on Premium TVs
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – September 23, 2025 – Google is phasing out its Google Assistant in favor of Gemini, bringing its advanced artificial intelligence directly to television screens.The rollout begins with a limited launch on high-end televisions, positioning Gemini as a central hub for household tasks, entertainment, and information.
Gemini retains the core functionality of a chatbot while expanding its capabilities for use in the living room. Google envisions users leveraging Gemini for assistance with educational projects, skill progress – such as learning a musical instrument – and everyday tasks like recipe retrieval or vacation planning. Further features are anticipated to become available in the near future.
Initially, Gemini will be exclusive to the TCL QM9K range in the United States, with a starting price of $3,000. Broader availability is slated for later in 2025, extending to the Google TV Streamer, as well as the 2025 Hisense U7, U8, and UX models, and the 2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models.
