Rudy Giuliani is expected to remain hospitalized for “days” as he recovers from serious injuries sustained in a car crash in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Saturday night. The former New York City mayor, 79, was a passenger in an SUV struck from behind, resulting in injuries that his son, Andrew Giuliani, described as notable but non-life-threatening.
The crash occurred around 10 p.m. when a 19-year-old driver collided with the rear of the SUV carrying Giuliani, police said. No charges have been filed as of Sunday, and the investigation remains ongoing. Giuliani’s son publicly thanked those offering support and lauded his father’s resilience, calling him “the toughest SOB I’ve ever seen!”
Giuliani was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Andrew Giuliani shared on social media Sunday that his father would be staying in the hospital for several days. He also thanked Ryan for overseeing his father’s care.
Prior to the accident, Giuliani and his son were seen together at a New Hampshire Fisher Cats minor league baseball game, according to WMUR.
Once celebrated as “america’s Mayor” for his leadership following the September 11th attacks, Giuliani later served as U.S. associate Attorney General and U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. He gained renewed national attention as a prominent legal advocate and representative for former President Donald Trump. As of Sunday, President Trump had not publicly commented on the incident.
