Giannis Antetokounmpo Joins Milwaukee Bucks After COVID-19 Recovery
Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo rejoined his team for practice on Saturday, having missed the initial days of training camp while recovering from COVID-19 in his native Greece.
Bucks coach Doc Rivers indicated Antetokounmpo participated in limited drills.”He said he’ll need three good mornings,” rivers stated.
Antetokounmpo arrived in Miami on Friday as the Bucks continue preseason preparations. The team held a press day on Monday (with Antetokounmpo participating remotely), began preseason training in Milwaukee on Tuesday, and traveled to Miami on Thursday to practice at the International University of Florida before their first preseason game against the Heat on Monday.
“I think I was infected. I still don’t feel one hundred percent physically,” Antetokounmpo said, describing his recovery. “I’m just taking it day by day, putting myself in shape. I could do a little of 5 against 0, run a little. Tomorrow I will be a little better. I have about 18 days left for the first game, so I think I’ll be fine.”
Entering his thirteenth season, all with Milwaukee, Antetokounmpo boasts an impressive resume: nine-time All-Star, NBA champion, two-time MVP, and NBA Finals MVP. He is one of only two players to have averaged at least 30 points per game in each of the last three seasons, alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Antetokounmpo will turn 31 in December.
