Giannis Antetokounmpo Declares eurobasket Bronze Greece‘s “Greatest Accomplishment”
Riga,Latvia – Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered a dominant 30-point,17-rebound performance to lead greece to a 92-89 victory over Finland in the EuroBasket bronze medal game on Sunday,september 14,2025. The win marks Greece’s first EuroBasket medal since securing bronze in 2009.
For Antetokounmpo, the triumph resonated far beyond another medal. This bronze medal represents the sixth time Greece has finished on the EuroBasket podium, adding to their past record of two gold medals, one silver, and now three bronze. Despite a late rally from Finland, fueled by Lauri Markkanen’s 19 points and 10 rebounds, Greece maintained control throughout the majority of the game, building a lead of as many as 17 points.
The game remained tense in the final moments, with Finland having a chance to tie the score with three free throws in the closing seconds.However, Elias valtonen missed the third attempt, and Antetokounmpo secured the rebound, sealing the win with two prosperous free throws.
Earlier in the tournament, Greece fell to Turkey in the semifinals, while finland was defeated by eventual gold medalists Germany. Germany went on to defeat Turkey in the gold medal game on Sunday, completing the EuroBasket tournament.
