German Actress Claudia Schmutzler Marries Herself at 60
German actress Claudia Schmutzler married herself in a symbolic ceremony in Berlin on September 18, 2026, one day before her 60th birthday, sharing photographs of the event on Instagram while remaining legally unmarried under German law.
Schmutzler Celebrates Self-Love with Symbolic Wedding in Berlin
Wearing a white dress and a flower crown in her hair, Schmutzler marked her milestone birthday by holding a solo wedding ceremony in the German capital. While a legal marriage in Germany requires two people, making her solo union—known as sologamy—strictly symbolic, the actress emphasized the personal significance of the event. On Instagram, she published images from the day alongside a personal statement regarding her decision to celebrate self-love. Am 18. September 2026 habe ich mir selbst nach jahrzehntelanger Recherche und eindeutigen Ergebnissen das Jawort gegeben,
she wrote, adding that the choice came nicht aus Mangel. Nicht aus Trotz. Dafür mit Größe. Kompetenz. Und ohne falsche Bescheidenheit.
Reflections on Self-Partnership and Friendship
In subsequent social media posts, Schmutzler expanded on her philosophy surrounding the ceremony, noting that happiness represents a conscious way of living rather than a circumstance dictated by a traditional partner. She wrote that she now understands her true identity and used the occasion to express gratitude toward her inner circle. Directing a specific tribute to her close friends, she wrote, Manche Menschen begegnen einem nur für eine gewisse Zeit und manche werden zu einem Zuhause. Meine beiden Bestie‘s SIND mein Zuhause.
Schmutzler also thanked everyone who supported her personal journey into what she described as the light.
Three Decades of Television and Film History
Schmutzler first rose to prominence in 1991 playing Jacqueline Struutz, the daughter of Wolfgang Stumph’s character Udo Struutz in the film Go Trabi Go, returning for the sequel the following year. Over the subsequent decades, her career spanned major public television productions across Germany. Between 1996 and 2003, she appeared in the series Für alle Fälle Stefanie, before taking on the role of Kriminalhauptkommissarin Katrin Börensen in more than 280 episodes of SOKO Wismar from 2005 to 2017. More recently, she stepped into the series Rote Rosen in 2019, taking over the leading role of Astrid Richter.
