George Foreman’s Texas estate listed for sale, Realtor.com reports
The 13.5-acre Texas estate associated with boxing legend George Foreman has been listed for sale, Realtor.com reported. Located in Huffman, Texas, the property features a nearly 12,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style mansion and an 11,000-square-foot climate-controlled garage, according to the same listing.
The Huffman Estate And Its Asking Price
Set behind a gated entrance at 29310 Martelly Way, the single-story residence was built in 2001 and sits about 35 miles northeast of downtown Houston, the Houston Chronicle reported. The main house contains five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, imported marble, wood flooring, intricate millwork, architectural columns, and three fireplaces, according to the Houston Chronicle. A steel-framed atrium anchors the interior, flanked by two kitchens, a library, two private offices, and a large fitness room. One of the kitchens served as the backdrop for filming commercials for the George Foreman Grill.
Commercial Success And Family Memories in Texas
The estate reflects both the athletic career and the entrepreneurial ventures of the two-time heavyweight champion. Foreman won Olympic gold in the heavyweight division in 1968, claimed the world title in 1973, and reclaimed it in 1994 at age 45, making him the oldest fighter to win the championship. Outside the ring, he began endorsing the George Foreman Grill in 1994, which went on to sell more than 100 million units worldwide, according to the Houston Chronicle. The Huffman property also housed two private offices where Foreman worked on sermons after becoming an ordained minister in 1978, as well as serving as a venue for family milestones, including a daughter’s wedding reception in the central atrium.
Foreman Family Hopes Buyer Hosts Gatherings on Grounds
The property’s detached collector’s garage offers roughly 11,000 square feet of air-conditioned space. Natalie Foreman, one of the late champion’s daughters, told the Houston Chronicle that she hopes a future buyer will carry on the family’s legacy by hosting gatherings and celebrations on the grounds.
Property records and real estate disclosures do not yet indicate whether potential buyers intend to utilize the auxiliary acreage or convert the collector’s garage into a training facility.
