Gary Neville Launches Daily Football Show On The Overlap

Gary Neville takes digital football broadcasting daily with The Overlap Daily

Gary Neville is expanding his digital media footprint with the launch of a five-day-a-week YouTube programme titled The Overlap Daily, reported. The new venture arrives as part of a wider push by Neville to compete directly with rival podcaster Gary Lineker in the digital football broadcast sector.

The Overlap Daily launches on Friday and will run every weekday. The production features a rotating lineup of former players, including Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Jamie Redknapp, alongside television presenter Kelly Cates. Neville will not host the daily show regularly after the initial episode, maintaining his focus on other projects within the portfolio.

Corporate backing and the scramble for breaking news

Media group Global holds a majority stake in The Overlap following a buyout earlier this year. That corporate transaction preceded a separate distribution agreement to broadcast episodes on Disney+. Global CEO Simon Pitts said the daily format takes the brand’s ambition to the next level by creating a space for continuous debate among football figures.

The daily format emerged from a gap in the production schedule when a Premier League manager lost his job unexpectedly, leaving the platform without commentary for a full week. Neville noted that the incident highlighted the necessity of a daily turnaround for breaking news and managerial departures. The expansion aims to establish the platform as a leading non-live football media property.

Sponsorship deals fuel rapid digital expansion

Commercial backing for the debut includes three confirmed sponsors. Betting firm Sky Bet returns as a long-term partner, joined by protein drink brand Huel and football fashion label Arne.

Rivalry with Goalhanger and the wider media portfolio

Meanwhile, Gary Lineker continues to expand his own digital presence through Goalhanger, the podcast business behind The Rest Is Football. Goalhanger secured a two-year distribution deal with Netflix following strong audience figures during the 2026 World Cup.

Neville will continue hosting the weekly flagship discussion programme Stick To Football alongside Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott and Ian Wright. The Overlap’s broader portfolio also features Stick To United, a dedicated Manchester United programme hosted by content creator Mark Goldbridge and former player Wayne Rooney.
