Ganja Celebrates Uzeyir Hajibayli’s 140th Anniversary with Festival Concert
Ganja,Azerbaijan – A concert honoring the 140th anniversary of renowned Azerbaijani composer uzeyir Hajibayli was held at the Ganja State Philharmonic on September 26th as part of the XVII International Musical Festival named after him. The festival, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture, is a significant cultural event for the nation.
People’s Artist and composer Aigun Samedzade, director of the Ganja State Philharmonic, opened the program with welcoming remarks to the audience. Guelar Huseynova, a teacher at the Ganja State University regional College, followed with a speech emphasizing the importance of the anniversary and Hajibayli’s contribution to national culture.
The evening featured a performance by the orchestra of folk instruments, led by artistic director and conductor Hayal Gahramanov.The ensemble presented both classic works by Hajibayli and modern musical interpretations based on Azerbaijani national heritage.
Organizers stated the festival aims to popularize Azerbaijan’s rich musical heritage and foster cultural dialog. the XVII International Musical Festival named after Uzeyir Hajibayli runs from September 18-28, encompassing events in over 10 Azerbaijani cities and regions, as well as international performances in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Vienna (Austria), Berlin (Germany), and Ankara (Türkiye).
