IIs that a ray of hope for Frankfurt? At least according to the data of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) there was no increase in the incidence value for the city as of midnight. The value is 47.0 after the 47.1 from the previous day and above all below the limit of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, from which the so-called red escalation level applies, which would require more stringent measures.
Of course, Frankfurt already decided on this on Tuesday: From Friday on there will be a curfew in Frankfurt: At 10 p.m., bistros, pubs and restaurants then have to close until 6 a.m. In addition, an alcohol ban is to be pronounced in some places. The mask requirement has also been expanded.
The city also used its own calculations, according to which the incidence would already be 49.2. These slight differences in the values come about because the RKI processes the values with a delay, as the data is initially recorded locally at the health authorities and passed on on a daily basis.
Offenbach at 49.7
The situation in Offenbach is even more critical than in Frankfurt: for the neighboring city of Frankfurt, the RKI reports a value of 49.7, which is only marginally below the 50 limit. The value rose comparably rapidly from Monday (40.4) to Tuesday (46.6).
For Frankfurt, the RKI recorded 16 confirmed new corona infections. A total of 3,767 people in Frankfurt have been proven to be infected with the corona virus so far, and there were no further deaths related to Covid-19 in the city overnight.
A closer look at Hessen also corresponds to the trend: the incidence value has risen to 22.1 after it was 20.6 the day before. Hesse is thus further above the national average, which is currently 18. 242 new cases were reported on Tuesday, but there were no new deaths related to Corona. The number remains at 556 dead since the beginning of the crisis. The total number of reported infected people is 20,355.
From a Frankfurt perspective, it is fundamentally important: The positive tests taken at the airport are not assigned to the city. Rather, according to the Ministry of Social Affairs, they are reflected in the statistics of the health department, which is responsible for the respective returnee. This can also be the Frankfurt office or another in Hesse, but also an authority in another federal state.
As the RKI further informed the FAZ, it does not officially collect data on the number of people who have recovered. The survey is also not provided for by law. “However, at least in the cases in which most of the information was determined, those that had no severe symptoms and that were not in a hospital have been instructed, assume that they will have recovered after 14 days at the latest, “it says in Berlin. The RKI estimates the number of those who have recovered.
The Ministry of Social Affairs publishes an overview of the corona development every day, broken down into districts and urban districts. It refers to figures from the RKI. Until a few days ago, it also took into account data from the Hessian state examination and investigation office in the health sector at the Gießen regional council, to which the health authorities have to report the new cases. In order to ensure consistency, the ministry now only uses the RKI information.
