RTL Tonight Guest Sparks Criticism from analyst Frank Evenblij
Amsterdam, Netherlands – Political analyst Frank Evenblij publicly questioned Astrid Holleeder‘s judgment following her appearance on RTL Tonight, where she appeared receptive to a young man openly expressing views aligned with controversial figure Andrew Tate. The incident, which occurred during a September 2025 broadcast, has drawn criticism for holleeder’s seemingly positive reaction to viewpoints widely considered misogynistic.
Evenblij, speaking to RTL Tonight, expressed surprise at Holleeder’s response to 21-year-old Davey Verbeek, a self-described supporter of Tate, who detailed his beliefs about the role of women. “I was surprised at the reaction of Astrid Holleeder, for I see her as an intelligent woman, who then says to that boy: ‘Yes, what do you formulate that beautifully,’ and ‘what sweet,’ and so on,” Evenblij stated. He suggested Holleeder should be aware of the implications of embracing someone who espouses Tate’s ideology.
The incident marks a shift in public perception of Holleeder, previously known for her involvement in a high-profile criminal case and subsequent media appearances. Evenblij characterized her as having ”lost her gun factor” after publicly embracing a Tate supporter, referencing a prior report by Mediacourant.nl.
Evenblij further highlighted a specific quote from Tate, stating, “There was also a video in which Andrew tate also said: ‘I’m taking care of you, I work for you, but that woman is mine.’ That possessedness!” He argued that Holleeder should recognize the problematic nature of such statements.
The exchange has ignited debate about the responsibility of public figures to critically engage with controversial viewpoints and the potential normalization of harmful ideologies on mainstream television.
