Four More Arrested in India Over Deadly Delhi Blast

NEW DELHI: India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced on Thursday ‍(November 20) ⁣the arrest of four additional individuals, including three doctors, in connection with the ⁢car bomb explosion in delhi last week.‍ The blast, the first of ⁤its⁣ kind in ⁢the heavily-guarded capital in over a decade, ‌killed ⁣10 ⁣people‌ and injured 32 others outside ‌the⁣ historic red Fort on November 10.

The NIA identified the four “prime accused”⁣ as Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganai, Dr.adeel Ahmed Rather, and Mufti Irfan ahmad Wagay, all from Indian Kashmir, and Dr. Shaheen Saeed from Lucknow. The agency stated,in⁣ a post on X (formerly⁢ Twitter),that “They had⁤ all played a key role in the terror attack,” but did ⁢not elaborate on the specifics of their ⁤alleged involvement.

Ganai, Rather, ⁣and Wagay‌ were previously⁤ apprehended ⁣by Jammu and Kashmir ‌police last week, who alleged their connection to‍ terrorist units⁣ linked‍ to Pakistan-based militant groups Jaish-e-Mohammad and Ansar ‍Ghazwat-ul-Hind. Family members of the three have publicly ⁣maintained their⁣ innocence. Attempts‍ to reach Dr. Saeed’s‌ brother for ⁢comment on Thursday were unsuccessful.

These arrests follow the earlier ⁤detention of Amir rashid Ali, the registered owner of the vehicle used in the bombing, and Jasir ‍Bilal Wani, accused of ‍providing ⁢technical assistance to the suicide bomber, Umar Un Nabi, who was also a doctor.

The NIA noted that Ali and ‍Wani,⁤ like Ganai, Rather, and Wagay, are from Jammu and Kashmir, a region ‍with a history of conflict between‌ militants and security forces.
