State Road Pursuit Reaches 140 Miles Per Hour
The incident began at approximately 2 a.m. on a Saturday in Bradenton when Florida Highway Patrol troopers conducted stationary laser speed enforcement at State Road 60 and South Maydell Drive. A deputy registered a Black Dodge Durango traveling 70 mph in a posted 50 mph zone. When troopers moved to overtake the SUV, the driver accelerated to 90 mph, prompting authorities to activate emergency lights and sirens.
The Durango continued fleeing, ran a red light with cross traffic, and struck a raised curb while avoiding a collision. Troopers pursued the vehicle as speeds climbed, noting that a patrol vehicle maxed out at 140 mph while the Durango continued pulling away. The chase ended after roughly seven minutes when the suspect vehicle suffered disabling damage to its front right tire.
Foot Chase and Perimeter Search Reveal Detained Passenger
Kennon exited the driver’s seat of the disabled Durango and fled on foot. Law enforcement deployed K9 units and aviation support from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office to secure the area. Approximately an hour after the vehicle stopped, troopers patrolling the perimeter discovered a female wearing a bodysuit covered in dirt stains, blood, and grass with lacerations on her arm.
Initially, the female provided conflicting statements about her whereabouts before law enforcement administered Miranda warnings. She subsequently told troopers that she had been in Ybor City with Kennon, who began driving recklessly after they left. According to her statement in the arrest report, she asked him well over 10 times to stop the car and let her out because she feared for her life, but he refused.

The former cornerback faces felony charges of false imprisonment and aggravated fleeing to elude, alongside a first-degree misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer without violence. An FSU spokesperson confirmed to Noles247 that the player, who enrolled in January, is no longer with the program.
