Protect Yourself This Winter: Flu & COVID Vaccination Day in l’Alfàs del Pi
The Alfàs del pi City Council’s Department of Health is hosting a convenient vaccination day tomorrow,Friday,November 28th,at the local Health Center. Residents aged 12 and over are encouraged to receive both their flu and COVID-19 vaccinations without the need for a prior appointment, between 3:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Remember to bring your SIP (health card) with you.
This vaccination push comes as part of a wider campaign that began on october 1st, initially prioritizing vulnerable populations including those over 60, residents of social-health centers, individuals with chronic health conditions (from six months of age), pregnant women, and healthcare/social-health personnel. On November 3rd, the campaign expanded to include all residents.
To date, the vaccination program has seen meaningful uptake, with 625,430 flu doses, 361,247 COVID-19 doses, and 46,591 flu vaccines administered. Notably, vaccinations have also been offered to students in the second cycle of early childhood education and special education centers, with 13,953 doses given in Alicante, 6,224 in Castellón, and 26,414 in Valencia.
Health officials emphasize that current scientific evidence supports receiving both the flu and COVID-19 vaccines in a single visit, offering convenience and improved tracking of vaccinations. They urge residents to get vaccinated before the onset of colder weather and while healthy, to minimize the risk of hospitalization, worsening of existing conditions, and overall improve public health.
