Filipino Repatriates: Cash & Aid After Middle East Evacuation

MANILA, Philippines – Thirty-one Filipino Overseas Workers (OFWs) who were safely repatriated from conflict zones in teh Middle East are receiving complete support from the Philippine government. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Office of Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA) are providing each returnee with P150,000 in immediate financial assistance, alongside airport support including temporary shelter and transportation to their home provinces [[3]].

Recognizing the potential for trauma, the Department of Health (DOH) is collaborating with the DMW to offer vital physical and mental health assessments to those evacuated from the affected regions.

Migrant workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac expressed gratitude for the coordinated efforts of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Philippine ambassadors in Israel, Jordan, Qatar, Iran, and Lebanon, and the governments of the Middle Eastern nations involved, as well as Migrant Workers Office attachés and OWWA officers.

The repatriates, consisting of 26 OFWs from Israel, three from Jordan, one from Palestine, and one from Qatar, arrived in Manila via Qatar Airways Flight QR 934 from Doha, Qatar, accompanied by Secretary Cacdac and Assistant Secretary Venecio Legaspi.
