Lech Poznań Considered Signing Forward Stojilković Before Agnero Deal
Poznań, Poland – October 8, 2025 - Lech Poznań explored the possibility of acquiring forward Stojilković this past summer before ultimately securing the transfer of Yannick Agnero, according to Cracovia Kraków president Mateusz Dróżdż. The revelation highlights the competitive market for attacking talent within Poland’s Ekstraklasa and Lech’s search for a successor to Mikael Ishak.
Dróżdż confirmed that Stojilković’s representatives actively pitched the player to multiple Polish clubs, including Lech. “These names circulate among the biggest clubs in Poland,” Dróżdż stated on Tomasz Ćwiąkała’s channel. “Stojilković was offered to lech, and I discussed it with their president.” While Dróżdż did not disclose the reasons why a deal with Lech didn’t materialize, he emphasized the increasing sophistication of scouting networks across the league, leading clubs to pursue similar players.
Lech’s pursuit of a new striker followed Ishak’s departure, creating a need for both competition and a long-term replacement. Agnero, an Ivorian international, was eventually signed, but has yet to score in his appearances for the “Kolejorz.”
Dróżdż also revealed that Cracovia received an offer for Benjamin Mendy, the 2018 World Cup winner, who later joined Pogoń Szczecin. However, Cracovia opted against pursuing Mendy, citing financial constraints and a preference for building a squad around players with potential resale value. “we prefer to build with players like Hasić and Stojilković,whom we can still potentially sell,” Dróżdż explained. He added that Kamil Glik, upon inquiry, cautioned that Mendy would “devour” opponents if in form.
