Magdeburg Falls to Schweinfurt in Mid-Season Test Match
MAGDEBURG – 1. FC Magdeburg suffered a 1-0 defeat to 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 in a Thursday afternoon test match, played at 1:30 PM.The match, held during the international break, saw Schweinfurt take the lead in the 13th minute with a goal from Wintzheimer. The game was not streamed.
Magdeburg started with a 4-3-3 formation, featuring Reimann in goal, adn a lineup of Hoti, Mathisen, and Gnaka in defense. Diawara, Michel, and Krempicki occupied midfield, with Bockhorn and Nollenberger on the flanks, and Pesch, Onaiwu, and nollenberger leading the attack. Diawara captained the team for the match.
Schweinfurt proved a challenging opponent, notably in the first half, consistently pushing forward and forcing Magdeburg to defend. In the 33rd minute,SchweinfurtS Celebi nearly scored with a long-range shot,requiring a “brilliant deed” from Magdeburg keeper Reimann,who cleared the ball for a corner.
Magdeburg had opportunities of their own, with Michel shooting from distance in the 17th minute, but the attempt was saved by Schweinfurt’s keeper Weisbäcker. However, Diawara and Mathisen struggled in central duels, contributing to Schweinfurt’s opening goal.
The match saw limited involvement from Magdeburg’s first-team regulars, with nine players on the bench including Baris Atik, Alexander Breunig, Alexander Ahl-Holmström, and Philipp Hercher, who were not involved in the game.
