KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 – Malaysian Communications⁣ Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has publicly criticized TikTok’s decision to appoint a former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) ‍soldier as a ⁣hate content ‍manager based in New York. ‌The move has sparked concerns ‌about potential bias in content moderation and algorithmic influence within‍ Malaysia.

Minister Expresses Concerns

Fahmi Fadzil described the appointment as insensitive and a lapse in integrity. ⁢He voiced worries that‍ TikTok’s​ algorithms could be manipulated to favor⁤ pro-Zionist content for Malaysian users. ‍ “After learning of the appointment, I promptly lodged an initial protest by contacting TikTok’s‌ Chief Executive ⁢Officer⁣ directly,” he stated.
