Man Indicted in Ex-Wife’s Murder; Allegations of Abuse and Stalking Revealed

A man has been indicted on charges related to the murder of his ex-wife, with prosecutors highlighting a history of alleged domestic abuse and stalking. The indictment marks a notable step in the case, with the state vowing to pursue justice for the victim.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, faces a potential life sentence if convicted. His defense attorney declined to comment following the indictment.Palm Beach County State Attorney Alexcia Cox, who previously led the office’s domestic violence unit, stated that the indictment underscores the commitment to holding perpetrators of domestic violence accountable. “No one should live in fear, and we will vigorously prosecute this case to the fullest extent of the law,” Cox said.

Evidence presented suggests the victim had expressed fear of the suspect in the months leading up to her death. According to deputies, the victim confided in friends that she was afraid of him.One friend told detectives that the suspect was sexually coercive and psychologically abusive during their marriage. The friend alleged that the suspect pressured the victim into group sex with strangers, offering to pay for her dental work in exchange.

As the victim sought to end the marriage and regain her independence, the suspect reportedly became increasingly unstable. He allegedly told friends he couldn’t drink alcohol when she was away, fearing he would enter a “dark place.” He also reportedly confessed to contemplating killing his first ex-wife, refraining only because it would orphan his adopted son.

Furthermore, the suspect is accused of stalking another ex-girlfriend using a fake Facebook profile. This ex-girlfriend reportedly contacted the victim, warning her to “run run run.”

By 2023, the suspect had begun surveilling the victim’s friend’s home, believing the victim was hiding there. Deputies responded to a shooting at the friend’s house, where a bullet had penetrated a bedroom window while the victim was visiting. The suspect was stopped nearby in his Jeep and found with a loaded firearm. He denied firing the weapon but admitted to repeatedly driving by the house to check if his estranged wife was present. A deputy noted that there was insufficient probable cause for an arrest in that incident.

The victim had also reported two instances of vandalism to her car to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, which she believed the suspect was responsible for.The suspect is scheduled for a pre-trial detention hearing on October 9th before Circuit Judge Howard Coates.
