EVO Entertainment Plans $13M Transformation of Houston-Area Theater
A shuttered Houston-area movie theater will undergo a $13 million transformation into a mixed-use entertainment destination featuring bowling, arcade games, and a restaurant.
Demolition and Construction Timeline for the Fulshear Venue
Following its acquisition by EVO Entertainment, the Richmond site situated on FM 1093 known as The Xscape at Katy Fulshear shut its doors for good in June. According to a newly filed registration with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration, construction on the remodel is scheduled to begin in November. Roughly half of the current 55,000-square-foot structure is slated for demolition by EVO, which also intends to build between 35,000 and 40,000 square feet of brand-new entertainment areas.
When the property closed, new ownership announced plans to turn the venue into more than just a cinema. The completed facility will include bowling lanes, laser tag, arcade games, and a full restaurant and bar. The venue will also reduce its number of movie screens from 12 down to seven. These remaining screens will feature two premium format options with screens more than 70 feet wide, equipped with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos sound technology.
We are thrilled to bring EVO Entertainment to this vibrant and growing community,
founder and CEO Mitch Roberts said when EVO acquired the property. This property has long served as a gathering place for local residents, and we are excited to expand upon that legacy while reimagining it for the next generation.

Founded by Roberts in 2014, the Texas-based entertainment and cinema chain operates six EVO theaters in the state, with three more locations on the way, including the Fulshear site. The completion date for the Fulshear project is currently set for June 2027, though an official opening date has not yet been announced.
