The US rapper Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival ended in tragedy: Eight people were killed in a mass panic and hundreds more were injured. The rapper is accused by fans that the escalation is also his responsibility and that he paid too little attention to the safety of the audience. Now the 30-year-old has been spotted for the first time since the tragedy – in front of his $ 14 million mansion in Houston.

22-year-old dies in hospital

On Thursday, the death toll also increased from eight to nine. A 22-year-old student from Texas died of serious injuries in hospital after she was declared brain dead on Tuesday.

The father of the deceased reports according to the «Daily Mail»that the 22-year-old attended the concert with her sister and cousin. Due to the mass panic, however, she lost sight of the two of them. A short time later, she was injured and taken to the hospital, where she died. “She was like an angel to us,” said the father in a press statement. And further: «Please demand all justice.»

And that’s exactly what those affected do: More than 150 people are said to have already taken legal action against the US rapper, various lawyers report. You accuse Travis Scott of inciting chaos and negligence. The lawsuits could cost the rapper billions of dollars.

Police chief is said to have warned Travis about the concert

The police had concerns about the huge crowds even before the concert, reports the «New York Times». The Houston police chief Troy Finner spoke to the rapper and his security team before the show and expressed his concern about the “energy in the crowd”.

Officially, 1283 security guards – 755 private security officers and 528 police officers – attended the event with around 50,000 fans. Two years ago, when the Astroworld Festival took place for the first time, there were only 47 private security guards. According to Finner, it was clear to those responsible that the concert-goers pose a significant risk.

Travis wants to pay funeral expenses

After his short video statement on Instagram, the US rapper announced that he would bear the funeral costs for the victims of the tragedy. He also wants to offer his fans free psychological help, which is why he has entered into a partnership with Better Help, a network of mental health professionals. He is also said to have reimbursed all fans for the entry to the show.

Still, the rapper can’t undo what happened last Friday. Especially the fact that he celebrated an after party with rapper Drake (35) after the accident is currently causing anger among fans. For his part, Travis claims that at the time he did not know how serious the situation at the concert was. As soon as he found out about the deaths, he left the party immediately.
