Taylor Hinds Among New Faces in England Women’s Squad for Homecoming Series
Manchester – Taylor Hinds, Aggie Beever-Jones, and Jess Fishlock have been called up to the England women’s national team for upcoming friendlies, head coach Sarina Wiegman announced today. The squad is preparing for the next phase of advancement ahead of the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.
The call-ups represent opportunities to assess talent and experiment with tactics as England navigates a changing landscape in women’s football. Wiegman emphasized the importance of these friendlies, stating, “We have about 10 camps before the World Cup, while not taking for granted that we have to qualify. These two windows we have the opportunity to play friendlies where we can try out things and see many players.”
Experienced players Lucy Bronze and Grace Clinton have also been included despite recent injury concerns. Bronze recently returned to action for Chelsea, appearing in added time against Tottenham on Sunday, after revealing she played in the Euro 2025 final with a fractured tibia. Clinton will be assessed by medical staff. Wiegman noted that neither player is expected to play full matches in speedy succession, but confirmed Bronze “is fit to play, hasn’t played many minutes yet because she’s just out of her rehab, but she’s trained a lot.”
England’s ”Homecoming Series” includes matches against Brazil at the Etihad Stadium on October 25, Australia at Pride Park on October 28, China at Wembley on November 29, and Ghana at St Mary’s on December 2.
Wiegman highlighted the team’s ongoing analysis of the game, saying, “We know the game is changing a lot, we’ve reviewed the Euros, we’re watching other countries too, what are the trends? What do we see? What do we want to develop? We’re at the stage of having those conversations with the players about how we want to move forward.”
