Cairo, Egypt – july 17, 2025 – The Egyptian state’s commitment to bolstering the mental well-being and overall health of its citizens has yielded ample results through the “Your Health is Happiness” initiative. Launched in November 2024 and continuing through last June, the program has demonstrably expanded access to crucial mental health and addiction prevention services across the nation.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, detailed the initiative’s impact, reporting that 456,995 students benefited from addiction prevention programs within schools, facilitated by 10,417 awareness sessions. Moreover,outpatient clinics dedicated to addiction treatment saw 58,010 citizens seek services. The program also reached 898 individuals through damage units focused on opium alternatives, and 51,227 citizens participated in hospital awareness seminars. Societal awareness seminars further extended the initiative’s reach, benefiting 212,179 individuals.

Abdel Ghaffar highlighted the presidential initiative’s role in combating electronic game addiction, noting the training of 50 individuals at primary care centers. Dr. Wissam Aboul Fotouh also reported on the psychological screening component of the initiative, which commenced in February 2023. As of June 2025, 3,832,857 individuals have completed psychological questionnaires as part of pre-marital examinations. To bolster expertise in this area, a series of training courses were conducted in January and February 2025, involving university professors.
