Getting Started with Google Drive Backups

Setting Up Automatic WhatsApp Backups
To automate your backups, open WhatsApp, navigate to Settings, then Chats, and select Chat backup. Choose Back up to Google Drive and pick a backup frequency other than “Never”. Select your preferred Google Account or add a new one. You can also choose whether to back up using cellular data.
Manual Backup Option

Backup files can be quite large. According to a recent report, the average Google Drive user has 15 GB of free storage, which might be insufficient for extensive WhatsApp histories (Google One Storage Plans 2025). If you’d prefer an alternative to Google Drive, WhatsApp offers a direct chat transfer feature between Android devices.
