Eastern European company faces harsh punishment for barefoot on balcony in Dubai – Abroad – News

A video posted on the Internet on Saturday shows several naked women being photographed on the balcony.

The Ukrainian consulate told the BBC that 11 Ukrainian citizens had been detained. The Russian media, on the other hand, has reported that one Russian citizen has been detained.

In Dubai, where much of the law is based on Muslim Sharia law, public negligence is punishable by up to six months in prison, as well as a fine of 5,000 dirhems (1,150 euros). In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), people have previously been imprisoned for showing public relations or homosexual relations.

The Russian citizen, who was the organizer of the photo shoot, faces a longer prison sentence – up to 18 months, reports the Russian agency RIA.

In Dubai in 2017, a British tourist was sentenced to one year in prison for having sex with a man she was not married to. Their relationship came to light when the woman complained to the police that the man had since started sending her threatening messages.
