La Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días has released a new video depicting the final week of Jesus Christ’s life, timed to coincide with the Easter season. The video portrays key events including the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection.
The Church is encouraging members and the public to share the video online using the hashtag #MayorAmor, Spanish for “greatest love.” The release comes as the church prepares for Easter observances worldwide.
According to the Church’s website, the video aims to highlight the central tenet of its faith: that Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection offer salvation and eternal life. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, founded in 1830 by Joseph Smith in New York, considers Jesus Christ to be the Son of God and the Savior of the world.
The Church, headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, currently has over 17.5 million members globally as of 2024, according to its official statistics. It operates 31,676 congregations and 202 temples worldwide.
In a separate announcement, La Iglesia de Jesucristo recently published 12 new hymns as part of an ongoing, gradual release of sacred music. The new hymns, available digitally in Spanish, English, Portuguese, and French, focus on themes of discipleship, covenant, revelation, home worship, scripture study, and adoration of Christ. One hymn, “¡Oh, qué gozo nos da!”, specifically addresses the path of baptism, the sacrament, and the temple.
The Church also recently held a flag ceremony at the Santo Domingo Temple in the Dominican Republic, honoring national symbols during the country’s “Month of the Fatherland.” The event included leaders and authorities, demonstrating the Church’s engagement with civic traditions in the communities where it operates.
