Erding,bavaria – Police fired at Bundeswehr soldiers during a large-scale military exercise in Erding,Bavaria,on Thursday morning,prompting a joint investigation. No one was injured, and authorities state there was no danger to the public.
The incident occurred during “Marshal Power,” an exercise involving approximately 800 personnel – 500 soldiers and 300 civilian emergency services – practicing defense scenarios in a public setting. The exercise aims to prepare for potential defense situations, including combating drones, sabotage, and irregular forces, simulating the defense of a NATO member state under attack.Training also includes securing crime scenes,traffic control,weapons cache detection,and protecting critical infrastructure like the decommissioned Isar 2 nuclear power plant.
“The police are ‘in close contact’ with the Bundeswehr,” the responsible headquarters stated, aiming to “clarify the background to the incident as quickly as possible.” Erding criminal police are collaborating with specialists from the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office.
The Bundeswehr military police are working with civilian police to determine how the incident occurred. A decision regarding the continuation of the exercise in Bavaria is expected Thursday morning. The crime scene remains cordoned off for forensic investigation.
