Infant Boy Dies Following Dublin Road Traffic Incident
Dublin, Ireland – An infant boy has died following a road traffic incident in Dublin on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 PM outside a residence in Rathmintin, jobstown, Dublin 24.
The child, whose specific age has not been released, was immediately transferred to Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Gardaí (Irish police) and emergency services responded to the scene. A technical examination by forensic collision investigators was conducted, and a family liaison officer has been appointed to support the boy’s family during this difficult time.
In a separate incident, an elderly woman in her 80s died in a two-car collision near Crosskeys, Co. Cavan, at around 3:30 PM. Gardaí are currently treating this incident as a medical emergency.The woman, who was driving one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene, and her remains have been taken to Cavan General Hospital for a postmortem examination.The other driver, a woman in her 40s, was transported to Cavan General Hospital for assessment.
Forensic collision investigators examined the scene of the Cavan collision on a local road in Carrickatober. The road was temporarily closed but has since reopened. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to both incidents, especially those wiht dashcam or other video footage.
These tragedies bring the total number of road fatalities in Ireland this year to at least 129, according to the latest Garda figures.
