The Department of Education and Training of Guests in the General Management of Punitive and Correctional Institutions at Dubai Police, in cooperation with the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khaled Al Nahyan Cultural Centre, organized two educational lectures for guests, with the aim of promoting mental health and their positive thinking.
The lectures reinforce the continuous efforts made by the penal and reformist institutions to rehabilitate the inmates and integrate them as productive and active individuals in society, thru educational and awareness programs that enhance positive values, and open new horizons for them to start again after the end of their sentence.
The first lecture, entitled “Horizons of Hope … Yoru Steps Toward happiness”, presented by Dr. Amina Al-Majid in the presence of 24 guests, and dealt with a number of important axes, including how to define professional and personal goals after leaving the punitive and reformist institution, and the importance of learning skills to deal with negative emotions, and transcending psychological and social challenges, in addition to the importance of self-support and social support in the journey of positive change.
As for the second lecture, it was entitled “Small exercises to free from guilt”, and was presented by Aisha Al-Jabri, in the presence of 19 inmates. The lecture discussed a book that deals with practical exercises that help individuals get rid of negative feelings, along with touching on the role of reading as an effective tool for positive change within penal institutions, the importance of enhancing self-esteem, and avoiding negative comparisons with others, to enhance mental and mental health.
Summer activity
On the other hand, the Dubai Police General Command, represented by the two houses of empowerment of the owners of determination and positive spirit, hosted more than 300 members participating in the summer activity of the Dubai Club for the owners of determination under the slogan “Our Summer is sweet”.
Members visited the Police Museum, and they enjoyed an atmosphere full of joy and societal interaction in cooperation with Khaled Magazine, which specializes for children, issued by the Security Media Department, by implementing manny activities, interactive workshops and fun recreational paragraphs, and various competitions were held over 5 weeks, in addition to the distribution of gifts.
Empowering people of determination
Fatima Bouhajir, Chairman of the Positive Spirit Council, and a member of the Empowerment Council of People of Determination, emphasized that the Council for Empowerment of People of Determination works in accordance with the strategic directions of Dubai Police in the happiness of society, and in support of the activation of the national policy to empower the owners of determination, and supports the Dubai initiative “community … a place for all” to be a fully friendly city for people of determination.
Fawzia Al Balushi, Assistant Executive Director and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for Summer Activity at the Dubai Club for People of determination, thanked the General Command of Dubai Police, which pays great attention to people of determination, in order to enable them to achieve complete integration.
