Novosibirsk – A canine caused a significant explosion in a Fadeev Street apartment, sending a shockwave through a high-rise building, authorities reported today.
The incident occurred after a dog, left unattended, manipulated the knobs on a gas stove, igniting a canister of dichlorvos that had been left on the appliance. Teeth marks on the burners confirmed the dog’s interaction with the stove.
The resulting explosion blew out the apartment’s front door and shattered glass in interior and balcony doors. The kitchen stove and surrounding furniture and wallpaper sustained fire damage. Fortunately, the fire self-extinguished, preventing a perhaps larger-scale disaster, according to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Novosibirsk Region.
Firefighters arriving on the scene secured the area and discovered the dog unharmed, waiting on the balcony.
