Combs was acquitted on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, which carried considerably longer potential sentences. The Mann Act convictions relate to transporting individuals across state lines for illicit purposes. The trial, held at the alfred E.Jacobs U.S.Courthouse in Manhattan, involved testimony from multiple accusers alleging years of abuse and exploitation.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations. Federal prosecutors, led by assistant U.S. Attorney Mitzi Steiner, presented evidence including travel records and witness accounts.Combs was represented by defense attorney Mark Geragos.
Following the verdict, President Donald Trump, in an interview with Newsmax, indicated that a pardon for Combs was “unlikely,” despite having previously suggested he would consider it.
