Diane Kruger and Tim Roth Star in Netflix Nazi Hunter Film Projet K
Diane Kruger and Dany Boon are leading the cast of Projet K, a new Netflix film centered on real-life Nazi hunters Beate and Serge Klarsfeld, with Tim Roth portraying Gestapo officer Klaus Barbie. According to reporting first broken by Screen and confirmed by Deadline, cameras are currently rolling across Paris, Lyon, Bolivia, and Belgium for the international historical drama.
Tracking the Butcher of Lyon on Screen
The narrative tracks a ten-year pursuit spanning continents. Beate Klarsfeld, a German, and Serge Klarsfeld, a French Jew, forged a partnership dedicated to locating high-ranking Nazi officials living under aliases. Their primary target became Klaus Barbie, the head of the Gestapo in Lyon responsible for mass deportations and torture during the German occupation of France. Showbiz notes that after the Second World War, Barbie initially worked for United States intelligence services before relocating to Bolivia under the alias Klaus Altmann. The Klarsfelds successfully located Barbie in 1971, leading to a protracted extradition campaign that ultimately brought him back to France, where he was convicted of crimes against humanity in 1983 and sentenced to life imprisonment.

The production reunites major creative forces within European cinema. Yvan Attal directs the feature from a screenplay he co-wrote with Laurent Turner, known for writing on the French Netflix crime series Ganglands. Attal is also producing the feature through his Films Sous Influence banner alongside NAC Films’ Antoine Pezet and Jérôme Corcos, as detailed by Showbiz. For Attal, the material carries a familiar weight; he previously portrayed Serge Klarsfeld opposite Franka Potente in the 2008 Canal+ television film La Traque, directed by Laurent Jaoui.
Cast Lineup and Production Footprint
The cast brings together distinct backgrounds in international film. Diane Kruger steps into the role of Beate Klarsfeld following her recent starring turn in Fatih Akin’s post-World War II drama Amrum, alongside previous wartime credits including Inglourious Basterds. Dany Boon, best known for directing and starring in the 2008 box office smash Welcome to the Sticks, plays Serge Klarsfeld. Tim Roth takes on the role of Barbie, arriving off a featured appearance in Tom Harper’s Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man feature for Netflix.
Netflix French Slate Expansion
Projet K joins a expanding Gallic film lineup at the streaming giant. Deadline reports that the project falls under a broader French slate that includes the upcoming September debut of Call My Agent: The Movie, alongside Quasimodo and sequels to Under Paris (Sous la Seine) and Ad Vitam.
